9 Things to add to your Holiday Bucket list

As we are currently in the midst of the holiday season watching the same old Christmas movies can get boring. Why not try something new? Here are 10 things to add to your holiday bucket list:

  1. 1. Watch live performances
Research local theaters like the Egg, the Palace Theater and the Charles R. Wood Theater to look for appealing holiday shows. If you want to stay at home, tune into the Nine Lessons and Carols for Christmastide.

2. Handmade Gifts
There are many sites and blogs where you can find inspiration for DIY family gifts, including Pinterest and Martha Stewart. You can make anything from reusable hand warmers made out of scrap fabric and rice to coffee scented soap made out of coffee grounds and goat milk. The opportunities are endless.

  3. Give Back
Many of us celebrate the holidays with our families and friends by exchanging gifts and goodies, but there are many people who don't have this opportunity. Despite how busy the holiday season may be for you, it never hurts to give back by donating toys, old clothing and nonperishable foods to your nearest homeless shelter. Additionally, something as simple as ringing a Salvation Army bell or volunteering 2 hours of your time at a local soup kitchen benefits the community and can humble your holiday-focused perspective.
    4. Host a holiday party
Invite friends and family over to celebrate the beginning of these winter months! Check out some of the CCF recipes to get foodspiration!!

5. Get festively competitive!
Burn off those extra cookies by registering for a local 5K running or nordic skiing race. You can meet new people and get competitive with those around you.
  6. Go to a craft fair

Another way to find some gifts for people is by going to a local craft fair. While the goods at craft fairs may not be low in price, you know their "manufacturing" source and they will probably last longer than something made in a larger chain store.

    7. Winter sports
Lots of people complain about the snow during the winter, by why not take ADVANTAGE of any and all snow by experimenting with a winter sport. This could be alpine skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating.. you name it! Being active in an indoor gym can get tedious all winter long so why not try something new this holiday season!!
